About Midlands Air Ambulance:

Midlands Air Ambulance has provided a vital helicopter life-saving service to the people of the Midlands and Welsh border region since 1991, making it one of the longest established air ambulance operators in the country.

It is not always fully appreciated that Midlands Air Ambulance is financially supported solely by the public and local businesses.

We receive no Government money or National Lottery funding, therefore the Charity is dependent on the generosity of the public to raise £5.6 million each year to ensure our three helicopters continue to save lives.

The Charity simply cannot continue without the help and support of the general public, so please consider making a donation or perhaps offering your time as a volunteer, so we may continue to provide this unique medical service across our region.

We receive no financial support from government or NHS.

We rely on YOUR donations to keep our service running.

Sophie Hill-Jones

[1983 - 2008]

About Sophie:

Sophie Hill-Jones lived

in Oldswinford, just
outside Stourbridge.

Educated at King Edwards College,

she worked at HSBC Bank in Stourbridge and was only 24 years old on the day her car was involved in a tragic accident that resulted in Sophie receiving severe head injury. She was taken by air ambulance to Selly Oak and later transferred to NCCU at the QE hospital. She never regained consciousness and, sadly, she died 6 days later on 31st May 2008. She was totally unique. Someone who made the utmost of every single minute of her life. Her huge personality and boundless energy and enthusiasm had a lasting impact on everyone she met and her loss has left a void for her family and friends that will never be filled.

Globally, the main charitable work of The HSBC Bank is focused on themes like supporting sustainability, helping the rainforest and so forth. (Please Click Here for more info)

Locally, however, we are very pleased to announce that HSBC Stourbridge is the first business in the area to host and help organise events designed and delivered by The Business Benefit.

The Business Benefit really is a very different kind of “This can improve your business” seminar. And we have every confidence that they will be of real benefit to any person attending.

We especially appreciate the fact that the Speakers of The Business Benefit each contribute their time and expertise completely free of charge for these events.

In our case, they are helping us to raise money for our staff’s favourite nominated cause, which is the:

This is especially close to our hearts because Sophie was a member of staff here at HSBC Stourbridge until she was tragically killed in a car accident on 31st May 2008.

Despite this very sad loss, her family and friends were nonetheless enormously impressed with the care and skill of the Air Ambulance crew specifically, as well as very grateful to the subsequent intensive care and first class attention by hospital medical teams.

All money raised at The Business Benefit events we host here in Stourbridge, in aid of Friends of Sophie Hill-Jones, will be donated to the Air Ambulance Service.

Whilst the first two Business Benefit events in aid of Friends of Sophie Hill-Jones and Midland Air Ambulance have now taken place, raising £1000 in total, you can still donate online to Midlands Air Ambulance in memory of Sophie, simply using The Business Benefit’s page at JustGiving, or the “widget”.
